The IC695CHS012 Universal Backplane belongs to GE Fanuc RX3i PACSystems series of baseplate modules. It comes with 12 slots and hot-swapping support. It is a dual-bus backplane that supports both PCI and high-speed serial devices.

It also supports GE Series 90-30 I/O modules and option modules. The baseplate options that are available with this module are the controller baseplate and the Ethernet expansion baseplate. It has a terminal strip on the left side to connect isolated +24 Volts DC input voltage. To maintain product reliability and performance, it must be mounted horizontally. The IC695CHS012 Universal Backplane also can be installed within a protective enclosure with an IP 54 rating or greater.

The IC695CHS012 Universal Backplane supports expansion bases to maximize flexibility. It has an internal power consumption rating of 600 milliamps at 3.3 Volts DC or 240 milliamps at 5 Volts DC. It features a backplane grounding point. The serial expansions and remote backplanes can be connected to the serial expansion connectors.

The slot numbers are printed on the backplane for easy identification. The IC695CHS012 module has an internal grounding bar to connect shield grounds or modules. This module is considered to be open equipment. When installing it in an enclosure, a minimum space of at least 4 inches required from all sides for proper heat dissipation. The leftmost slot which is known as Slot 0 of the backplane is used for installing the backplane connector of the power supplies. Slots 1 through 11 can be used to connect the PCI and serial bus compatible modules. Slot 12 is used to connect RX3i serial expansion modules.
